Lower My Golf Score-Getting A Grip
There you are out on the course sitting in your golf cart wondering if I will ever lower my golf score. Are you sure you are using the proper grip of the club? Not enough can be said about the importance of the proper golf grip to your game and lowering your scores.
Most golfers only show a passing interest, if any at all, in educating themselves in the proper way to grip a golf club. It is not a difficult task to learn the proper grip. What it does take is time and practice. When your game is suffering, that is the time to review your golf grip. Before the swing comes the grip. Do not even think of working on your swing unless you have first perfected your grip.
The way you grip a club can have either a positive or negative impact on your golf shots. The key to you being able to realize that 'I can lower my golf score' is the grip. A good grip will diminish any penchant you have to hitting a slice. It will help you develop the skill of not letting the club twist in your hands allowing you to hit the ball square with the club face. The right grip will always set up a more consistent swing.
Holding your club with your fingers and not your palm is the proper start to setting your grip. Your upper hand is the one that holds the club the other hand just goes along for the ride. Grasp the club lightly with your last three fingers at the top of the club. At this point no one should be able to pull the club from your hand. You don’t need a stranglehold of the club just a light grip.
Take your lower hand and lay the club in your fingers. Swing your lower thumb over the upper one and point the naturally occurring ‘V’ formation between your thumbs and index fingers to about the collarbone of your back shoulder. Don't miss your opportunity to become competitive again. Make that move to lower my golf score
